Highlights of this tour include navigating the large whitewater rapids in this remote river valley located within the rugged Coast Mountain Range east of Whistler Village. Perched high on a bank above the river's edge, next to an intact section of the original gold rush trail, a traditional coast Salish pit house, or "s7istken" (pronounced ee-sh-kin) will be available for guests to learn of the past and join the traditional welcoming ceremony from their hosts.

Highlights of this tour include navigating the large whitewater rapids in this remote river valley located within the rugged Coast Mountain Range east of Whistler Village. Perched high on a bank above the river's edge, next to an intact section of the original gold rush trail, a traditional coast Salish pit house, or "s7istken" (pronounced ee-sh-kin) will be available for guests to learn of the past and join the traditional welcoming ceremony from their hosts.Part of this tradition is the sharing of food. Guests will sample local treats like fruit cobble with stinging nettle or cherry twig tea. Built from a design dating back to 2500 BC, this structure is the only one of its kind in traditional territory and available for visitation on the British Columbia coast. Creatively designed, an s7istken is cool in summer, warm during winter. The four main structural support posts are symbolic of the directional points of a compass and the four seasons that make up a year. To learn of this ancient design form is fascinating and educational.
