Summer Spearhead Traverse – A Classic

Spearhead TraverseWell known as a winter classic on skis, the Spearhead Traverse is also a great summer mountaineering trip. It is an exhilarating 4 day tour from Blackcomb to Whistler Mountain crossing over 12 glaciers and offering you some of the most spectacular mountain scenery. It is known as the Canadian version of the haute route in the Europe Alps, but the Canadian way, spending each night in a tent. A truly Canadian adventure.

Ice Camp – A Rewarding Experience

Ice CampIn Blackcomb Glacier Provincial Park. The Ice Camp Program is designed for enthusiastic and energetic people wanting to learn the skills required for safe travelling in the mountains. This three day learning camp will teach you the basics of alpinism. The main topics taught at this training are crampons and ice axe technique, self arrest, rope management, crevasse rescue, glacier travel, mountain hazards and risk management. Your reward will be the exhilarating experience to ascent a local summit.

Difficulty: Moderate. Good level of fitness and good agility required.

We have opened Whistler Mountain's premier chairlift - the Peak Chair - for summer alpine sightseeing and hiking. In addition to the exhilarating open-air chairlift ride to the very top of Whistler Mountain, you will be treated to tremendous views of ancient glaciers, snowcapped peaks, dormant volcanoes and the beautiful Coast Mountain Range.

Be sure to go for a stroll while you're at the top. The Peak Adventure gives you the access to over 48 kms of alpine hiking trails including the new Peak Interpretive Walk.

Trails are normally open July through September. The opening of trails is dependent on the snowpack - as the snow recedes, trails will open.
